This small urban park, situated on a steep hillside in Charlestown, MA, is closely surrounded on all sides by private homes. Residents became intensely involved in the redesign process of this important active play area. The park was rebuilt with two levels of play; each separated by a large planter wrapped with a ramp making each area accessible. New retaining walls, fencing, and plantings define the play areas and buffer them from adjacent houses. New paving and play equipment meet current accessibility and safety standards.
